The Keystone Academy provides educational, clinic, and community-based services for children with special needs. Serving grades pre-k through 12, The Keystone Academy offers a curriculum that is both psychoeducational and developmentally driven in an intensive, highly supportive environment. Instruction at The Keystone Academy is based on the tenets of behavioral education, which is designed to give each child the skills they need in order to benefit from their educational placement in the least restrictive environment possible. Classroom time includes:
- Academics aligned with Sunshine State Standards
- Language and Communication
- Daily Living/Self-help skills
- Reduction of challenging behaviors and an increase in alternate/replacement behaviors
- Play and Leisure
- Socialization and Community Integration
- Coping Skills and Self-regulation
Small class sizes, with a low student to teacher ratio, make it possible for each student to have their own unique educational and therapeutic needs addressed while still maximizing the educational benefits of the classroom experience.
The Keystone Academy provides a developmental, educational, and therapeutic environment for students requiring small class sizes and individualized attention. Students will learn experientially, with much repetition, through a variety of multi-sensory, collaborative approaches. The Keystone Academy provides our students with a holistic approach that promotes academics, cognition, constructive social, language, organizational skills, Our interdisciplinary team works collaboratively to create a nurturing yet challenging environment empowering children to think independently and to develop and embrace a strong sense of self.
