The founders of Keystone Behavioral Pediatrics are excited to open The Keystone Academy for the 2010-2011 school year! Serving grades pre-k through 12, The Keystone Academy offers a curriculum that is both psychoeducational and developmentally driven in an intensive, highly supportive environment. Instruction at The Keystone Academy is based on the tenets of behavioral education, which is designed to give each child the skills they need in order to benefit from their educational placement in the least restrictive environment possible. Classroom time includes:
- Academics aligned with Sunshine State Standards
- Language and Communication
- Daily Living/Self-help skills
- Reduction of challenging behaviors and an increase in alternate/replacement behaviors
- Play and Leisure
- Socialization and Community Integration
- Coping Skills and Self-regulation
Small class sizes, with a low student to teacher ratio, make it possible for each student to have their own unique educational and therapeutic needs addressed while still maximizing the educational benefits of the classroom experience.
In addition to their typical grade level course work, students receive supplemental instructional support from highly trained, knowledgeable staff. These enrichment classes target the specific needs and learning styles of each student. Student progress is monitored and evaluated by staff members in an effort to continually tailor the educational experience to best fit both the therapeutic and educational requirements of each child.
Also available as part of The Keystone Academy experience are special, related services to further support your child in their educational journey. These services include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Speech/Language Pathology
- Psychological Services
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Psychiatric consults
- Intensive behavioral therapy
