Keystone Academy

The Keystone Difference

What sets The Keystone Academy apart from the rest?

The Keystone Academy is the only clinic-based school in Northeast Florida providing year round, full day instruction for students, including approved McKay Scholarship participants. Small class sizes with only a 5:2 student ratio provide ample opportunity for Keystone Academy students to interact with our staff of highly trained professionals , consisting of BCBA™ (Board Certified Behavior Analysts), BCABA™ (Board Certified associate Behavior Analyst) as well as our licensed psychologists and psychiatrist. To ensure the highest quality instruction for your child, an Intensive Employee Training and Accountability Program has been instituted for all staff members as an important part of our mission, in addition to regular continuing education and weekly staff training.

A strong belief in mind-body connection allows Keystone students the opportunity for daily sensory exploration and body movement. Students are provided with brain gym exercises; physical education opportunities with fitness experts, sensory room activities; and after school sports programs.

Thematic units are connected through daily activities that are both academic and therapeutic. This integrated approach allows Keystone students to see meaning and purpose in each and every activity. The students will feel stimulated and confident as their learning allows them to make connections, generalize information, and apply their skills in and outside of our classroom walls.

Small class sizes with a minimum of 5:2 student ratios provide ample opportunity for Keystone students to interact with our staff of highly trained professionals, consisting of certified special education teachers, behavior analysts, licensed psychologists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, social worker, and psychiatrist. To ensure the highest quality instruction for your child, an Intensive Employee Training and Accountability Program has been instituted for all staff members as an important part of our mission, in addition to regular continuing education and weekly staff training.

The classroom experience here at Keystone is also unique. Within the walls of a school full of amenities, students at Keystone have the opportunity to receive supplemental training focusing on specific areas such as self management, social skills, nutrition/wellness, and vocational training. Unlike many traditional schools, staff members at The Keystone Academy are trained to utilize evidence-based interventions within the classroom, as well as powerful, positive programming. In addition, Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) are incorporated into each student’s specific curriculum.

At The Keystone Academy, learning goes beyond the classroom. Students have the opportunity to participate in special extracurricular enrichment programs that address the specific needs of each student. For example: daily living skills, coping skills, socialization and communication. Unlike other schools, therapeutic support is also available to each student in a variety of psychological services.

We strive to create an environment where open communication and collaboration between parents, staff and students is encouraged. This objective is reflected in our open door policy for parents, as well as the opportunity for parents to participate in family counseling sessions with our trained, highly knowledgeable staff.

Continuing education is a top priority for our staff. Our professionals are trained on the most current and innovative therapeutic and educational services available. In addition, staff of The Keystone Academy are proud and active members of the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis, the Association for Behavior Analysis, the Florida Psychological Association and the Council for Exceptional Children.

These are just a few ways in which The Keystone Academy is unique. Come experience The Keystone Academy difference for yourself! Apply for the 2010-2011 school year today.
